THE AGE OF GOODBYES: Malaysian director Edmund Yeo and Tôn Thất An’s second collaboration will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, in the Special Presentation selection.
While their first film together was an adaptation of a Banana Yoshimoto novella, Moonlight Shadow, The Age of Goodbyes is based on Li Zi Shi’s novel bearing the same title.
Incidentally, The Age of Goodbyes is the second of the three films, along with Quán Kỳ Nam [Ky Nam Inn] and Chớp Bóng [PictureHouse], for which An composed the music after his mother’s passing, and the three for them share similar themes: loss, memories and eventually rebirth.
More detailed info to come regarding cast and crew. But people can already recognise the faces of the two leads on the promo photos.
After The third Wife in 2019 and Ky Nam Inn last year, The Age of Goodbyes marks the third South East Asian film An has been involved with as a composer which has its world premiere at TIFF.
