Where the Sun shines bright is an anthology film structured around an 18-year-old boy standing on the threshold of adulthood, who revisits his own process of growing up through encounters with four children in a small village in southern China. The film unfolds as four connected fragments, which were originally shot as short films. The stories touch on left-behind children, separation from parents, confusion about the body, the internet, silence, loneliness, and the strange emotional geography of a small southern Chinese village.
Tôn Thất An composed the music for the first segment, Summer Delivery, which is also going to festivals as a stand-alone short.
